Sometimes parodies lead to the finest tunes. This was a 70s era laugh at how english sounds to Italians by Adriano Celentano for a T.V. program called Mileluci. Sung entirely in gibberish designed to sound like American English. Most famous for his early work when Celentano was influenced American Rock n’ Roll with some heavy Italian drama thrown in…

Talk Piano Talk
This is pretty awesome, although my early experience of the talking piano was Sparky, a fond distant memory. For the brilliant piece above Austrian composer Peter Ablinger digitized a recording of a child reading the Proclamation of the European Environmental Criminal Court and then programmed a mechanical piano to replicate the sounds. But can it top Alvino Ray and Stringy the talking guitar?
and again
I don’t normally do this, but couldn’t resist. Mentioned these folk a little while ago. We think they’re great and good news is they be gracing our shores over March. looking forward to it….

Video Mush
Christian Marclay is in my mind the untouchable king of this area and possibly the pioneer who could be responsible (along with the home computer, the internet and digital downloads) for the uncontrollable mass of mash-ups that bombard our lives. Seen in earlier work like Telephones and most recently the epic Clock. Sadly he seems to favour the traditional gallery or site specific approach for presenting his work.
Every now and then from some unknown place a stranger throws a brilliant mash-up at us. The obsessiveness behind putting something like this together remains a mystery to me, But Matthijs Vlot a Dutch chap put this little gem together beautifully.
Enactment of the Typewriter
One of my child hood heroes of Police Academy fame, the genius that is Michael Winslow, has been cast into a quirky little film by the charmingly dry artist Ignacio Uriarte. This oddly moving film traces the history of the typewriter through an awkward yet charming musical performance by Mr. Winslow.
Fridays Tune
The brilliance that is Ducktails. If you don’t know this film archivist by day and psycadelic tropical syrup maestro by night… check him out!
Wunderbar!
Desert Driving Tunes
Well I shamefully havent posted anything for quite some time. So to kick things off in cruise mode, a great bit of warm hazy soul inspired music from the incredible Ephrem Tamru. This brilliant piece of Ethiopian music is courtesy of New Yorker Brian Shimkovitz’s ‘Awsome Tapes from Africa Blog’ if you dont know it, then take a deap breath and begin what will no doubt be an incredibly long journey into a vast vault of some seriously sublime tape rips from the continent. Late Late Party
Charles “Packy” Axton was a sax player on the soul scene around Memphis in the 50’s & 60’s. Although lesser known than his contemporaries like Steve Cropper & Duck Dunn who went on to form Booker T & the MG’s, he did leave behind a few scorchers, like the smoky ’Hung Over’ above, currently being celebrated on Light in the Attic Records. Sadly he moved on to another place at 32, not quite the 27 club.
Weather Music Sculpture
This wonderful thing is the work of Nathalie Miebach, who translates weather and climate change data from cities into musical scores which are then translated into wonderful whimsical sculptures and she uses them as the basis for collaboration with musicians. Science meets art and music.
Robot Mouth
Alarmingly close to something the brilliant Maywa Denki Bros may create, accept Professor Hideyuki Sawada is approaching this from the angle of science. For now 5 of them would make a great robotic throat singing choir.
